Well, it's been a while since I last posted. My webinar went pretty well with about 25 people attending. There was a small technical glitch in the middle when a webpage opened overtop the WebEx window and logged me out of the conference. Also the sound recording didn't work, so I had to redo the webinar a second time for the recording on our webpage. Ah well, overall pretty good for a first time. Click the link below if you want to watch me in all my glory. ;-)
In other news, I attended JavaOne in SF this year. It was pretty sweet, met lots of interesting people, lots of good sessions and lots of partying at night. Definitely can't complain. I focused mostly on web services and SOA stuff, which resulted in some of the talks being way too marketing focused. Too bad. It was interesting to hear from Sun's Project Tango folks about web services in Java 1.5. Finally things are getting easier. I also enjoyed the JBoss BOF on transactions in web services. I've been playing around with the latest release of JBossWS in the office and it works very well. The whole web services stuff in Java 1.4 was just way too confusing and cumbersome. I also really enjoyed some of the Swing presentations and the BOF with the Swing team.
After that I spent two weeks in Germany installing the GenoLogics system at our biggest customer to date. I was quite nervous prior to the trip, but luckily all the advance preparations paid off and everything went incredibly smoothly. They have a highly complex IT environment with multiple global sites and 6000+ desktops at the German site alone. We got our system installed in 2 days!! They mentioned that it takes other companies 1-2 weeks.
Now I'm back in the office getting started on a few professional service projects and just generally playing around with some new technologies and ideas I have. There's still lots to do on the Automated Informatics framework.
